Overview

Revertly ("we", "our", or "the app") is an iOS application designed to help new Muslims learn the fundamentals of Islamic prayer and practice. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

Data We Collect

Revertly collects minimal data, primarily stored locally on your device:

  • Location data: Used to calculate accurate prayer times for your area. Your coordinates are processed on-device using the Adhan library. When you grant location access, Apple's reverse geocoding service is used once to determine your city name, which involves sending your coordinates to Apple.
  • Onboarding preferences: During setup, we ask for your selected school of jurisprudence (madhab) and gender (used to show relevant prayer posture guidance). These are stored locally on your device.
  • Prayer check-in data: Your daily prayer completion records, streaks, and Ramadan tracking data are stored locally on your device using UserDefaults. This data never leaves your device.
  • Learning progress: Lesson completion, app settings, and privacy mode preferences are stored locally on your device using UserDefaults.
  • Widget data: If you use the Revertly widget, prayer times, your city name, and lesson progress are shared with the widget extension via an on-device App Group. This data never leaves your device.
  • Purchase information: If you subscribe to Revertly Premium, your purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. We do not have access to your payment details.
  • Anonymous usage statistics: Since version 2.0.2, Revertly sends anonymous usage signals through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service based in Germany, so we can see where the app is unclear and improve it. A signal says which screen was reached or which option was tapped in the welcome questions and on the subscription screen (for example your answer to "where are you on your journey"), together with the app version, iOS version, device model, language and region. A signal can also say which reason you tapped when you cancel a free trial, or that you turned the Together Lights switch on or off. It never contains your name, email, location, your prayer records, your lesson progress or anything you type. TelemetryDeck only receives a random identifier that is hashed on your phone, so signals cannot be linked to you, and it does not store IP addresses. No ads, and no tracking across apps or websites.
  • Messages and feature requests (optional): If you choose to write to us or submit a feature request, in the app or on this website, we store what you send: your message, your email address if you add one, and, from the app, the app version and whether you have Premium. We use it only to read and reply to you. Feature requests appear on our public feedback board only after we review them, and never with your email address.

No Accounts Required

Revertly does not require you to create an account. There is no sign-up and no password. We only receive your email address if you choose to include it in a message or feature request. Apart from the anonymous usage statistics described above, everything else stays on your device.

Third-Party Services

  • RevenueCat: Manages in-app subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and purchase receipt from Apple. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple Location Services: Used for reverse geocoding (converting your coordinates to a city name) and for manual city search via MapKit. These requests are sent to Apple. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • TelemetryDeck: Receives anonymous usage statistics. No personal data. See TelemetryDeck's Privacy Policy.
  • Supabase: Stores messages and feature requests you choose to send us.
  • Telegram: When you send a message or feature request, a copy is forwarded to our private Telegram notification bot so we can reply quickly.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. The only data transmitted from your device is anonymous purchase verification (via RevenueCat), location data sent to Apple for reverse geocoding, anonymous usage statistics (via TelemetryDeck), and any message or feature request you choose to send us.

Data Storage & Security

All personal data (preferences, progress, location) is stored locally on your device. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data. The only data we store on a server is messages and feature requests you choose to send us. TelemetryDeck stores the anonymous usage statistics, which cannot be linked to you.

Children's Privacy

Revertly is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require account creation or personal information input.

Your Rights

Since your app data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. You can reset your progress and preferences from the Settings tab, or delete the app entirely to remove all data. To have a message or feature request you sent us deleted, email us and we will remove it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
