What it is and when you say it
Ayatul Kursi, the Verse of the Throne, is verse 255 of Surah Al-Baqarah. It speaks of the oneness of Allah, His life, His knowledge and His power. The Prophet (peace be upon him) called it the greatest verse in the Book of Allah.
Muslims recite it after each obligatory prayer and before sleeping. It is one long verse, so here it is in nine short parts, split where the pause marks in the Arabic fall.

How to learn it by heart
- Read the whole text once with its meaning, so you know what you are saying.
- Learn one line at a time. Say it out loud until it flows, then add the next line.
- Hide the words little by little: first letters, then nothing. Tap a line when you need a look.
- Use it in your prayers right away. Repeating it five times a day is what makes it stay.
