What it is and when you say it
When you finish your wudu, you say the testimony of faith. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that whoever completes wudu well and then says it, the eight gates of Paradise are opened for him, to enter by whichever he wishes.
The first two lines are in Sahih Muslim. The last two, asking Allah to make you one of those who repent and keep pure, are added in the narration of at-Tirmidhi.

How to learn it by heart
- Read the whole text once with its meaning, so you know what you are saying.
- Learn one line at a time. Say it out loud until it flows, then add the next line.
- Hide the words little by little: first letters, then nothing. Tap a line when you need a look.
- Use it in your prayers right away. Repeating it five times a day is what makes it stay.
Common questions
Is there a dua before wudu?
Before wudu you say "Bismillah". The longer dua is said after you finish.
Is there a dua for each part of wudu?
Some books list a dua for each limb, but scholars of hadith say those are not authentic. What is authentic is Bismillah at the start and this dua at the end.
