What it is and when you say it
Rabbana atina is a dua from the Quran (2:201): it asks for good in this life, good in the next, and protection from the Fire. Anas ibn Malik reported that it was the dua the Prophet (peace be upon him) made most often.
Many say it in the final sitting, after the salawat and just before the salam. It is a sunnah, not required. Any short dua is fine there.

How to learn it by heart
- Read the whole text once with its meaning, so you know what you are saying.
- Learn one line at a time. Say it out loud until it flows, then add the next line.
- Hide the words little by little: first letters, then nothing. Tap a line when you need a look.
- Use it in your prayers right away. Repeating it five times a day is what makes it stay.
Common questions
Where do I say Rabbana atina in the prayer?
In the final sitting, after the tashahhud and the salawat, before you turn your head for the salam. You can also say it any time outside the prayer.
Can I say it in my own language?
In the prayer, keep to Arabic words, and this one is short to learn. Outside the prayer you can ask Allah in any language.
