What it is and when you say it
An-Nas, "People", is surah 114, the last surah of the Quran. You ask Allah, the Lord, King and God of people, to protect you from the whisperer who puts doubts and bad thoughts in the heart.
Its verses are short and end in the same sound, which makes it easy to learn.

How to learn it by heart
- Read the whole text once with its meaning, so you know what you are saying.
- Learn one line at a time. Say it out loud until it flows, then add the next line.
- Hide the words little by little: first letters, then nothing. Tap a line when you need a look.
- Use it in your prayers right away. Repeating it five times a day is what makes it stay.
Common questions
Who is the whisperer?
Shaytan, who whispers and then slips away when a person remembers Allah. The last verse says such whisperers can be jinn or people.
Can I recite An-Nas in the first rakat and Al-Falaq in the second?
Yes, any order is valid. The sunnah is to follow the order of the Quran, so many recite Al-Falaq first and An-Nas second.
