Quran 110:1-3

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

  1. 1

    إِذَا جَاءَ نَصْرُ اللَّهِ وَالْفَتْحُ

    Idha ja'a nasrullahi wal-fath

When Allah's help comes, and the victory

  2. 2

    وَرَأَيْتَ النَّاسَ يَدْخُلُونَ فِي دِينِ اللَّهِ أَفْوَاجًا

Wa ra'aytan-nasa yadkhuloona fee deenillahi afwaja

and you see people entering Allah's religion in crowds

  3. 3

    فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَاسْتَغْفِرْهُ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ تَوَّابًا

Fasabbih bihamdi Rabbika wastaghfirh, innahu kana tawwaba

What it is and when you say it

An-Nasr, "Help", is surah 110 and one of the last surahs revealed. It speaks of people entering Islam in crowds, and tells the Prophet (peace be upon him) to glorify his Lord and ask His forgiveness.

Three verses, a good short surah to add to your prayer.

How to learn it by heart

  1. Read the whole text once with its meaning, so you know what you are saying.
  2. Learn one line at a time. Say it out loud until it flows, then add the next line.
  3. Hide the words little by little: first letters, then nothing. Tap a line when you need a look.
  4. Use it in your prayers right away. Repeating it five times a day is what makes it stay.

Common questions

What is "the victory" in the first verse?

Most scholars say it is the opening of Makkah, after which whole tribes came to Islam.

Is it a good surah for beginners?

Yes. It has three verses, and the words of the last verse, "fasabbih bihamdi Rabbika wastaghfirh", are also a beautiful dhikr.
